Congratulations to CPC alumni, Taze Thompson, on securing her FOURTH Beanpot Championship with Northeastern University in 2025!
Taze has now claimed the coveted Beanpot title four times—once with Harvard University in 2022 and three more times with Northeastern in 2023, 2024, and now 2025.
In the semi-finals, A mere 56 seconds after Northeastern got on the board, Thompson added another goal, giving the Huskies a 2-0 lead. As the captain of the Northeastern team, Thompson is a born leader, both on and off the ice. Throughout the season, she played in 29 games, tallying 6 goals and 9 assists for 15 points.
At last year’s Beanpot, Taze scored the lone goal in the semi-finals against Harvard to help her team earn a spot in the championship game. At the 2023 Beanpot, Taze was instrumental in Northeastern's 4-1 victory over Boston University in the semifinals, scoring a goal and contributing 3 shots on net in the 2-1 win against Boston College in the finals.
As a freshman, Taze made an immediate impact, earning a spot on the ECAC All-Rookie team and leading all first-year players in both goals and points. She was a key factor in Northeastern’s historic 2022 Beanpot title, scoring in both championship games. She finished her first season with 8 goals and 12 assists for a total of 20 points.
Before her college success, Taze was a dominant force at New Hampton, becoming the first player in school history to break 100 career points in just two seasons. She was also named the NEPSAC Small School Player of the Year. In 2019, Taze represented Canada at the National Women’s U18 Championship with Alberta and was also selected for the Hockey Canada US National Team, playing in a series against the USA in Lake Placid. That same year, she was chosen for the Hockey Canada National Women’s Development U18 Camp, where she competed against Team Russia.
